  • 2 1/2 quarts fresh wild blackberries
  • 4 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 box Sure-Jell
  • 1 tsp butter

Instructions

  1. Gather your tools: a large pot, strainer, ladle, funnel, and canning jars with lids.
  2. Wash and inspect the blackberries carefully to remove any debris.
  3. In a large pot, cook the blackberries on medium heat with a small amount of water for about 15 minutes until softened.
  4. Strain the mixture using a tight-knit strainer to extract approximately 3 3/4 cups of juice.
  5. Return the juice to the pot and add the box of Sure-Jell and butter.
  6. Bring to a full rolling boil while stirring continuously. Add sugar all at once and boil for another minute while stirring constantly.
  7. Remove from heat and fill jars using a ladle and funnel, then seal with lids.
  8. Process jars in a water bath for 10 minutes or let them seal naturally.
