  • 3/4 cup whole milk (room temp)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (room temp)
  • 3/4 cup patriotic sprinkles
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • More sprinkles for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda; set aside.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy in a stand mixer. Add egg whites gradually and mix until incorporated.
  4. Stir in milk and vanilla until smooth. Add half of the dry mixture followed by half of the sour cream; repeat with remaining ingredients.
  5. Gently fold in sprinkles. Pour batter into prepared dish and bake for 35-42 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool completely before frosting with homemade vanilla buttercream.
