- 1.5 lbs boneless beef belly, skin removed
- 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, minced
- 1 star anise
- 2 scallions, chopped
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- Chopped scallions
- Sesame seeds
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, ginger, and star anise.
- Place the boneless beef belly into the bowl and ensure it is well-coated in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Take the marinated beef belly out of the refrigerator and place it in a roasting pan.
- Roast for 1.5 – 2 hours until it reaches an internal temperature of 145°F.
- Increase your oven temperature to broil and brush the beef belly with any remaining marinade. Broil for 2-3 minutes until caramelized.
- In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
- Slice the roasted beef belly into thick slices, arrange on a serving plate, and drizzle generously with creamy sauce. Garnish with chopped scallions and sesame seeds before serving.
